A Quick Getaway to South Carolina: Sun, Seafood & Southern Charm
Sometimes the best trips are the short ones—those spontaneous escapes that leave you smiling long after you’re back home. My recent visit to South Carolina was exactly that, packed with warm memories, beautiful sights, and one surprisingly unforgettable pizza.
We explored the Waccamaw Neck, a scenic stretch just south of Myrtle Beach. This narrow strip of land is framed by the Waccamaw River on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, offering a peaceful blend of nature, history, and Southern hospitality. We wandered past moss-draped oaks, charming small towns, and quiet beaches that felt like they belonged in a storybook.
But the highlight? Dinner at The Wicked Tuna in Myrtle Beach. Known for its fresh seafood and coastal vibes, the restaurant sits right on the water, with sunset views that belong on a postcard. I tried something new: a Tuna Pizza. Yes, tuna. On a pizza. Sounds unusual, right? But trust me—it was magic. Crispy thin crust, sashimi-grade tuna, creamy avocado, a hint of wasabi aioli… every bite was a perfect fusion of flavors and textures. I still think about it.

Add in good friends, ocean breezes, and a cocktail or two, and it was one of those evenings you wish you could bottle up and relive.
If you’re ever heading down to South Carolina, don’t skip the Waccamaw Neck—and definitely don’t leave without trying that tuna pizza.
