A London Layover to Remember-And a Shophie's Soho delight
Our trip to Paris started with an unexpected bonus—a short layover in London that turned into one of the most charming stops of our journey. With just a few hours to spare, my friends and I set out to make the most of it. First stop? A quick visit to Buckingham Palace (yes, we called it “Beckingham Palace” half the time, thanks to jet lag and excitement). Even with our tight schedule, it was surreal to stand before the gates, soaking in the royal grandeur and the buzz of London all around us.
But the real gem of the layover? Lunch at Sophie’s Soho. We ducked in thinking we’d just grab a bite—but wow, were we in for a treat. The space was bright and airy with a rustic, cozy charm that instantly made us feel welcome. The kind of place where you want to settle in and stay a while.
Now let’s talk food. The Yorkshire pudding—more like a perfect popover—was the stuff of dreams. Light, crispy, buttery heaven. I ordered the octopus, and let me just say: it was absolutely divine. Every dish was a work of art, bursting with flavor and beautifully plated. We devoured everything like we hadn’t eaten in days.

And then there was Norma, the hostess with a heart of gold and the grace (and glow!) of Kate Upton. Warm, kind, and effortlessly lovely, she made us feel like regulars. It’s rare to meet someone who leaves such a lasting impression in such a short time—thank you, Norma!
Our layover may have been brief, but it was packed with great vibes, royal sights, and unforgettable food. London, you know how to treat your guests right.
